Employment Openings in Canada

Last Updated: July 06, 2022

There are many jobs available in Canada right now, and the country’s economy depends on finding individuals and filling these positions as soon as possible to keep the Canadian economy thriving. The unemployment rate in Canada is currently at a historic 5.1% low, and there is a substantial workforce shortage. Employers are seeking qualified workers to staff their companies. Many industries in Canada are in a similar situation.

With the aging of Canada’s population, the problem of labor shortages is exacerbated. More than one in five working-age Canadians is expected to retire in the next few years. This effect is compounded by Canada’s low fertility rate of 1.4 children per woman. The current birth rate is not enough to replace the number of people who will retire in the future.

Given the labor scarcity, this is an excellent period for anyone wishing to relocate to Canada. Many industries require immigrants to fill empty positions. Many firms are also eager to hire someone with little or no experience or from a completely other industry since they feel that most skills can be learned over time and that individuals can be trained once they join. One can take help from Best Immigration Lawyers Services in Dubai to move to Canada without hassle.

Immigration is Essential For Canada Right Now

Immigration is important for Canada right now because it helps to make the country more diverse and inclusive. The main reason is that it helps to maintain the population and economy and contributes to the cultural fabric of Canada. As the number of available employees decreases, labor shortages are becoming more common in Canada. This has been made worse by the COVID virus. To prevent the spread of the virus, borders were closed to keep out immigrants. This prevented them from moving to Canada. Employers in various industries require workers currently, yet they cannot locate qualified candidates. Sectors like construction, manufacturing, hospitality and restaurants, retail, information technology and transportation, logistics, and warehousing need people to fill in the unfilled positions.

Amid Labor Scarcity, The Express Entry Program Comes To The Rescue

To address the labor shortfall, the Canadian government has chosen to restart Express Entry Programs (Canadian Class of Experience, Federal Skilled Worker Program & Federal Skilled Trades Program). On July 6, 2022, the Express Entry Program will resume admitting new immigrants.  This resuming of the program will allow people who have been waiting a long time to come to Canada to apply.

The FSW program benefits the government by providing a significant number of skilled workers who contribute to the economy. The pandemic has made unemployment and a surplus of job opportunities even worse in Canada. As part of the government’s effort to help sustain the country’s faltering economy, everyone in Canada is now required to contribute to the economy in some way.

In the Express Entry draws individuals will be picked based on their employment this time. The Canadian government will choose applicants from among employees in sectors where workers are in limited supply. According to the IRCC, applications for the Federal Skilled Workers Program, the Federal Skilled Workers Program, or the Canadian Experience Class will be completed within 6 months beginning in early July 2022. Previously, candidates had to wait much longer owing to the pandemic.

Express Entry candidates for the Canadian experience class (CEC) sometimes had to wait more than 20 months for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process their application earlier. Permanent residency invites have been halted for FSWP applicants since December 2020, while CEC candidates have not received an invitation since September 2021, however, this will change in July 2022. Resuming of Express Entry Program will help many individuals in obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

Furthermore, international students in Canada with a post-graduation work visa that expires between January and December 2022 will be eligible for an additional open work permit of up to 18 months. According to Immigration Minister Fraser, the government is considering a simplified, accelerated approach to this. These smart and competent overseas graduates are critical to alleviating Canada’s labor deficit, and those reaching the conclusion of their post-graduation work permit are already well-integrated into the Canadian labor market, working in major industries across the country. Each year, tens of thousands of people successfully transition to permanent residency, including over 157,000 former students who became permanent residents in 2021, with over 88,000 of them moving directly from a post-graduation work permit to permanent status. This new open work permit will allow candidates to continue contributing to the Canadian economy, addressing the labor deficit while acquiring important work experience and developing their Express Entry profiles. In addition, individuals who apply for an open work permit while their permanent residence application is being processed will be able to get work permits valid until the end of 2024. This ensures that all permanent residency applications are completed before candidates must apply to extend their temporary status.
